Well. I am not allowed to post on Paul's blog so I thought I would comment on your Fundy. The issue for me is that the religious right has created wedge issues that one is either for or against. Abortion: For life or against life, Stem cell research: For life or against life, Gay right: For Biblical marriage or against it. The issues are more complex than that, not only that but there are other solutions available than a simple my way(er God's way) or the highway (to hell according to Paul). The Republican Party while in power has shown its true colors and shown that all politics are corrupt and all politicians will do anything to get our vote. I like what you said in that we need to look at the issues individually and not let one or two trump them all. Instead of fighting Gay marriage like we do why don't we exercise separation of church and state and let the state issue the legally binded civil unions and allow the churches to perform the religious marriage ceremony. Why is the church doing a state authorized function? The political advantage to the right wing is huge. We need to get past the arguing and have dialog. I like your blog Fundy, it would be nice to have an offline discussion sometime. E-mail jboldt73@yahoo.com
